The series starts in Istanbul in the year 1973. 35-year-old Mahir Kara (Kenan İmirzalıoğlu) lives with his family and works with his father Nazif (Çetin Tekindor) as a shoemaker. One day, Nazif is imprisoned for a murder he did not commit. In an attempt to prove his father's innocence, Mahir, with the help of their lawyer Erdal, joins the court as a graduate lawyer trainee and meets the judge of his father's trial. Feride Şadoğlu (Bergüzar Korel) is a newly appointed judge to the court and close friend of Süleyman, the chief prosecutor whom Nazif is accused of having murdered. While trying to prove his father's innocence, Mahir comes close to Feride and the two fall in love, which Turgut Akin, prosecutor at court and a dark character, begrudgingly observes, fearing not only to lose the woman he secretly loves but also to be convicted as the actual murderer.
